You don’t have to study math to play online poker and become a successful poker player. Nevertheless, you have to have a good feeling for numbers and a quick grasp for mathematical rules. It is especially important to be able to calculate the odds and therefore to be able to evaluate how much money you can invest. There are three possibilities after the flop: Either your hand is so bad that you will immediately surrender, or your hand is so good to be able to bet and raise without consideration.
However, it is more probable to have a “Drawing Hand”. This is a hand capable to become a strong hand. The Pot Odds have to be considered at this moment. These mathematical rules are an important decision support for Calling and Raising, because this combines the value of the pot and the possibility to get a strong hand.
